EELC submits comment to NJDEP regarding 2020 Environmental Justice Law

EELC recently submitted a comment to New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection on behalf of the New Jersey Progressive Equitable Energy Coalition (“NJPEEC”) regarding the 2020 Environmental Justice Law. The law requires NJDEP to evaluate the environmental and public health impacts of certain facilities on overburdened communities when reviewing certain permit applications.

While supportive of the law, EELC suggested several changes that would better ensure that the regulations are specific, enforceable, and the most protective of these communities.
